Mid-Term Activity Report of Our Library Department

As Kocaeli University Library, we continue our work without slowing down in the 2024-2025 Academic Year under the management of our Department Head Bilal Yavuz DEMİRKAYA. As KOÜ Library, we have carried out many studies from user trainings to educational videos; from events in which our library is internal and a stakeholder to the renovation of library spaces. In line with our Rector Prof. Dr. Nuh Zafer CANTÜRK's goal of becoming a Research University, changes were made to our library's lighting systems with the efforts of our Department Head Bilal Yavuz DEMİRKAYA on energy efficiency within the scope of sustainability. In addition, we offered food and beverages to our students in order to create a warm library environment during exam periods. In addition, our working hours were adjusted in order to ensure that our users spend more time in the library. Our library, which continues its services under the supervision of our Rector Prof. Dr. Nuh Zafer CANTÜRK and the presidency of our Library and Documentation Department Head Bilal Yavuz DEMİRKAYA, set out with the slogan "living university, living library". Many renovation works have been carried out in the interior and exterior spaces of our Central Library building, especially our Open Reading Area, which started to serve in the 2024-2025 Academic Year and which we designed as an alternative living space. We will continue to increase our services with these and similar works in the following periods, with the aim of providing a social area for our users. In addition, our Library took part in the Audio Book Project, which was carried out jointly with Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality with the contributions of our Rector Prof. Dr. Nuh Zafer CANTÜRK at the 14th Kocaeli Book Fair, in which Kocaeli University was a stakeholder. KOÜ Library will continue to shape its services in the future in line with the suggestions of our users.
